SnowyWindOSX 10.6.2 Final release for netbooks | Mac Os X | 4.3 GB
This will NOT work on a MSI Wind U130, U135, U160, U210, U230!

SnowyWindOSX Final release for install snow leopard on msi wind u100. This distro gives the MSI Wind and Wind clones such as the Advent 4211/Medion Akoya/etc. a perfect setup out of the box with Snow Leopard 10.6.2. Also verified to work with the Dell Mini and possibly other netbooks.
Works on GUID AND MBR partition schemes, and even includes a package to make it EFI boot without any work on your part.

How to install SnowyWindOSX:
*NOTE: These instructions appear long, but that is because I made them as dummy-proof as I could. It is actually about as simple as it can get.


DVD Method:
1. Burn SnowyWindOSX.iso to a blank DVD.
2. Put the freshly burned DVD into an external DVD drive.
3. Power on your MSi Wind/Wind Clone and tap F11.
4. At boot menu choose your external dvd drive.
5. Once booted to the installer go through the normal prompts.
6. If you need to, set up your partitions in Disk Utility, which can be accessed under Utilities on the menubar. Bare in mind that if you want EFI booting you will need to choose GPT(GUID) partition scheme.
7. Choose the partition you want to install to.
8 Click install.
9. After the install Finishes reboot.
10. The first boot will be slow. It has things to do. Once it is booted go through the prompts for setup as normal.
11. Once at the desktop go back into the SnowyWindOSX disk and open the Optional Installs folder. If you are on MBR open the MBR USERS folder and install the MBR.pkg. If you are on GUID open the BUID USERS folder and install the GPT.pkg. These packages take quite a while to run(5 minutes or so). These packages perform a cleanup that won't work from within the installer.

*NOTE: Notice in each of those folders is an Update program. The version for GUID users is well known at this point. The one for MBR offers the same functions. Easy access to the Extra folder without the Terminal work, and easily patching graphics for system updates.

12. After installing either the MBR.pkg or the GPT.pkg you need to reboot, so that the system will be clean. bear in mind that this boot may be slower, because of the work that the packages did, but its ok.
13. After that you should choose whether to use DSDT to have "sleep on lid close" or the clamshell.kext.
14. At this point you need only to adjust your touchpad settings and anything else, because you are DONE!


Flash Drive Method(Need Mac)
1. Mount the SnowyWindOSX.iso.
2. Insert an 8gb or bigger flash drive.
3. Open Disk Utility.
4. Click on your Flash drive listed on the left side.
5. Click the Restore tab.
6. Drag/drop the mounted flash drive to the Destination field.
7. Drag/drop the mounted SnowyWindOSX, to the Source field.
8. Make sure the Erase Destination box is selected.
9. Click Restore.
10. After it finishes, install Chameleon 2 RC4 to the flash drive.
11. Put the flash drive in one of the USB ports.
12. Power on your MSi Wind/Wind Clone and tap F11.
13. At boot menu choose your flash drive.
14. Once booted to the installer go through the normal prompts.

Sleep on Lid Close:

I did not include a "Sleep on Lid Close" fix in SnowyWindOSX, because there are 2 different methods to achieve it. Using a patched DSDT is the best way, but it causes a kernel panic for some. That is why I didn't include it. The other method is to use ClamshellDisplay.kext, but since it will only work from /System/Library/Extensions, many don't like it, and that is why I didn't include that.

It is however very simple to apply either one. For DSDT you simply copy the patched DSDT file into the Extra folder, and reboot. For ClamshellDisplay.kext, you simply copy it into /System/Library/Extensions, repair its permissions, and rebuild the kextcache by opening terminal and typing:
