American John Isner and Nicolas Mahut of France are playing the longest tennis match ever Wednesday at Wimbledon, currently clocking in at longer than eight hours, with well over 100 games in the fifth set.

Share As of 3:37 PM ET, Isner and Mahut are tied 55-55 in the fifth set. That's by far the longest set in tennis history, and the match has obliterated the previous tennis time record of 6 hours, 33 minutes, set at the 2004 French Open.

The match was suspended by darkness Tuesday night and resumed Wednesday The sun will go down at Wimbledon soon, and if Isner and Mahut haven't finished by then, the match will be suspended because of darkness for the second time.

Update, 3:45 PM ET: Isner holds serve to take the lead 57-56 in the fifth set.

Update, 3:50 PM ET: Isner holds serve to take the lead 58-57 in the fifth set.

Update, 4:00 PM ET: Mahut is re-taping his finger at the change. Isner leads 59-58.

Update, 4:10 PM ET: Match has been suspended due to darkness at 59-59. Play will resume Thursday.
